MOL Mercarius is a leading player in Hungary’s fleet management market

As a 100% Hungarian-owned company, MOL Mercarius has nearly three decades of experience and provides a wide range of services for small and large enterprises in fleet management. In November 2024, we reached an agreement with MOL and established MOL Mercarius Holding, making us the second-largest player in the market with over 21,000 vehicles managed.

Our customized fleet management solutions cover the entire process: from financing, through operating our own service network, to maintaining the vehicles’ aesthetic condition. All of this is realized by the expertise of nearly 300 dedicated colleagues, ensuring the quality of our services and delivering our clients the highest standards of solutions.

If any issues arise, we act directly and respond quickly to ensure our customers’ satisfaction. 

Service: 
Our experienced technicians operate at our own service centers, carrying out necessary maintenance, repairs, and seasonal tire mounting in Budapest and Debrecen. We plan to open additional MOL Mercarius service centers in other regional cities in the near future. 

Assistance: 
You can always count on us, as both our dispatcher and on-site personnel for our 24/7 assistance service are employed by MOL Mercarius. Our colleagues have the opportunity to work with their own tow trucks, ensuring quick response times. 

Accident, damaged vehicle: 
In case of an accident, our claims specialists and claims coordinators are available to clients to handle the safe and cost-effective repair or replacement of the damaged vehicle. 

Tires: 
Our tire logistics center handles seasonal tire storage, condition assessment, procurement of new tires, and most of the transportation, allowing us to take responsibility for the condition of seasonal tires with confidence. 

Replacement vehicle: 
When needed, we provide immediate replacement vehicles from our fleet, ranging from commercial vehicles to premium passenger cars, so our clients can continue their work without interruption. Without involving external partners, we exercise direct control over the condition and cleanliness of the provided vehicles and can select from our available models. 

Driver service: 
Our ’Driver’ service is also carried out by our own employees, who handle your vehicle with utmost care and assist in transporting it for tire changeovers or maintenance. This ensures the comfort of our clients and smooth workflow even while their vehicle is in the service.

Expansion of our own service centers:

Our goal is to establish additional own service centers in regional areas so we can support our clientsmobility in even more locations with MOL Mercarius staff. This will reduce our reliance on external providers, ensuring a consistent service quality and an uniform customer experience.

Regional expansion:

Currently, our operations are limited to Hungary, but in the short term, we plan to enter neighboring markets. This will enable us to offer our existing clients broader international accessibility.

Róbert Koleszár has been the Managing Director of MOL Mercarius since 2009. Over the past 16 years, his ambitious plans and deliberate growth strategy have ensured the company’s dynamic development, transforming it from a traditional rent-a-car service into a leading domestic fleet management provider, operating over 21,000 vehicles.

Our sales managers’ primary task is to identify new, potential corporate clients – whether they are internationally backed or 100% Hungarian-owned companies. They participate in competitive tender procedures, prepare proposals, and are involved in the contract-signing process. From procurement to vehicle delivery, they are actively present, ensuring a smooth and professional client journey. 

Our Key Account Managers take care of serving our existing corporate clients, who are typically key players in the private sector. They maintain contact with clients throughout the entire contract period and ensure the seamless operation of our services at the highest possible standard. Our Marketing and Digitalization team is responsible for the MOL Mercarius brand image, manages social media platforms, maintains relationships with press representatives, coordinates the company’s central communications, and oversees customer satisfaction surveys. Additionally, automating manual internal processes and initiating digital innovations at customer touchpoints are part of their responsibilities.

Claims division

Our nationwide team operates across six locations, handling approximately 9,000 claims annually to ensure fast, cost-effective, and customer-focused claims management. Our claims handlers, adjusters, and parts procurement colleagues work closely together, supported by their own claims authority and contracted insurance partners. 

Most repairs are carried out at our own service points, giving them full control over quality and cost management. Their independent internal comprehensive insurance system also provides flexibility for both our clients and colleagues.

Service division

As the business unit with the largest headcount, the Service Division is the driving force behind daily operations. Currently, we operate five locations in Budapest and one in the countryside, where we provide comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and tire repair services for MOL Mercarius vehicles, along with car washing and detailing. Our work is supported by dedicated customer service, parts logistics, and driver teams, who also ensure our Driver service.

Our controlling team is one of the company’s support areas. Their tasks include preparing plans and forecasts, monitoring the company’s financial and operational indicators, and analyzing deviations from the set targets. Finance department

Our finance department plays a comprehensive role in ensuring the stable operation of our company. They are responsible for the complete administration, monitoring, and reporting of vehicle financing and bank loans, as well as the daily management of related contracts and accounts. They maintain active relationships with banks, suppliers, and clients, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements. 

During receivables management, they monitor payment deadlines and client accounts, send reminders, and coordinate with clients, lawyers, accounting, and other departments. 

As part of accounting support, they prepare accounting documents, track cash movements, provide necessary statements, and support audit processes. Additionally, cash flow planning and ensuring liquidity are key responsibilities, including control over operational, investment, and financing activities.

Accounting department

Our accounting department plays an important role in ensuring the financial stability of our company. Their main tasks include posting and coding supplier and customer invoices, accurately recording bank statements, salaries, taxes, and other general ledger items. They also prepare invoices beyond rental fees, handle invoice complaints, and, in coordination with partners, manage received fines and their subsequent invoicing. 

They ensure the operation of site cash registers, manage cash supply, and post the related entries. The activation, depreciation, and disposal of fixed assets also fall under the team’s responsibilities, as well as monthly closings, statutory tax filings, and reports to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH). 

They coordinate audits, participate in tax inspections, and represent the company before authorities.

Our HR team plays a key role in ensuring the long-term success of our company – because people are our most valuable asset. Quality division

Our Quality division is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality of our services. They handle nearly 2,000 return settlements annually, ensuring transparent and accurate processing. With our 24/7 assistance service, they provide quick and reliable support to our customers in over 800 cases each year. 

During our customer satisfaction surveys, they request feedback from our partners at least four times a year, processing more than 1,500 responses. Incoming complaints are also handled to a high standard: they ensure objective and customer-friendly solutions in approximately 180–200 cases annually. In addition, they carry out other support tasks, working closely with other departments.

Tire division

The Tire division is responsible for managing the tires of the MOL Mercarius fleet – from ordering to storage, transportation, and coordinating seasonal tire changeovers. 

Our central warehouse, located in Lakihegy, Budapest, handles approximately 15,000 sets of tires on a specialized shelving system. Warehouse operations are supported by manual material handling, a PDA-assisted system, and our own custom inventory management software. 

Our main task is to ensure that tires are delivered in the right condition, at the right time, and to the right location. In addition, the division manages comprehensive tire operations (ordering, storage, condition assessment), provides logistical support for seasonal tire changeovers, works closely with the service team, handles administration and record-keeping, maintains contact with our nationwide partner network, coordinates own and subcontractor transportation, and manages online bookings during peak seasonal tire changeover periods. 

During seasonal peak periods (spring and autumn), fast-paced and well-organized work is essential. Fleet division

Our Fleet division coordinates the delivery and return of nearly 300 new and 800 replacement vehicles monthly across six locations. With a fleet of over 500 replacement and rental vehicles, we can flexibly respond to customer needs. 

Before handing over new cars, our colleagues coordinate with dealers and customers to ensure a smooth process. Operating the replacement and rental fleet involves managing vehicle handover and return (HTB/RTB), maintaining and preparing the fleet, and allocating vehicles according to demand while considering mileage, age, service status, and customer expectations. 

Our admin team handles motorway vignettes, fuel cards, authorizations, and the Mycarius customer portal.

Mercar team

Mercar Használtautó is our subsidiary, operating dealerships in Budapest and Debrecen, offering exclusively vehicles that have been part of the MOL Mercarius fleet throughout their entire lifecycle. 

Our sales staff and test masters work closely together to ensure that every car is sold in excellent condition, including full mechanical inspection and aesthetic refurbishment.
