The day of receiving the new car is an exciting moment, so our team does everything to make this occasion as smooth and special as possible for you. What can you expect on the handover day, and what should you prepare in advance?

With prior arrangement, you can also receive the car at your premises.

This can take place at the premises of the importer or the car dealership.

Recommended preparations

Check that you have your valid ID card and driving license with you before heading out for the handover.

Before receiving the vehicle, it’s important to ensure that you have paid the tolls for any payable roads. Purchasing toll stickers can also be arranged through our assistance; if you haven’t used this service, please purchase the stickers for the highways you will be using. If you need help with buying the toll stickers, we are happy to assist you.

On the day of the handover

At the time of vehicle handover, both the sender and receiver are jointly responsible for inspecting the condition and accessories of the vehicle. We kindly ask you to actively participate in checking the following items:

Mandatory accessories:

  1. warning triangle
  2. first aid kit
  3. spare wheel or puncture repair kit
  4. high-visibility vest
  5. European “blue-yellow” accident report
  6. car jack*
  7. and the wheel wrench*

*If you receive a puncture repair kit, the car jack and wheel wrench are not included among the mandatory accessories.

Vehicle condition assessment:

Recording any detected defects in the report.

Receiving the necessary documents:

  1. vehicle registration certificate
  2. insurance certificate
  3. authorization to drive the vehicle

After the inspection, by signing the Handover-Takeover Report, you confirm the accuracy of the above.

Important: It is the joint responsibility of both the person handing over and the person receiving the car to check the condition and accessories of the vehicle.

What else happens on the day of the handover​?

1. Vehicle overview
During the handover, we will show the most important functions and features of the car.

  • Vehicle customization: How can you adjust the car to suit your needs?
  • Driver assistance systems and extras: What driver assistance systems are available and how can they be activated?
  • Mobile connectivity: How can you connect your mobile phone to the car display?

2. Operational use
We provide information on the most important questions related to the rental period and answer your questions.

  • Service: How often and where does the car need to be serviced?
  • Tire changeovers: How are winter and summer tire changeovers carried out?
  • Emergencies: What should be done in case of an accident, lost ignition key, or other problems?

In the days following the handover

Please note that fuel cards assigned to the new user or vehicle are generally not provided at the same time as the vehicle handover. It may happen that we will send them to you a few days later.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I receive my new vehicle?

A new vehicle is handed over at the MOL Mercarius sites, at our clients’ own sites, or at the new car showroom.

Check that you have your valid ID card and driver’s license with you. Furthermore, make sure that you have paid the tolls for toll roads and purchased a vignette for the highways you will use.

The following mandatory accessories must be checked:

  1. warning triangle

  2. first aid kit

  3. spare wheel or tire repair kit

  4. high-visibility vest

  5. European “blue-yellow” accident report form

  6. car jack*

  7. and the wheel wrench*

**If you receive a tire repair kit, the mandatory accessories will not include a car jack and wheel wrench.

Any detected defects must be recorded in the report, and if necessary, an appointment will be scheduled for the repair. It is important to check the condition of the car together.

The fuel card assigned to the vehicle is usually not handed over at the same time as the car, but will be sent to you a few days later. You will receive the car from us with a full tank.
